What is the exact lifespan of an NCM battery
- Sep 18, 2018 -

Theoretically, an NCM battery can have a lifetime of 800 charge cycles. This figure decreases to 500 plus in the specifications of main suppliers under normal charge/discharge condtions.

When configured into battery packs, NCM batteries have different voltages and resistances because of inconsistency in manufacture, and therefore their lifetime drops to about 400 charge cycles.

Manufacturers recommend that the state of charge (SOC) should be maintained at 10% to 90%, and overcharge or over-discharge will cause irreversible damage to both positive and negative structures.

Warning: The service time of lithium batteries will plummet to less than 200 cycles if they discharge at a high rate and high temperatures all the time.
